Special verges in the north devon Biosphere

There are 16 designated Special Verges in the Biosphere, several have multiple short sections.  These verges were originally designated due to their wildlife value, rare species or their visual display of wildflowers. During the Life on the Verge - Biosphere project 13 of these Special Verges were resurveyed by volunteers.

To view the Special Verges closely use the Devon County Council Environment Viewer (note you will need to:- Uncheck 'Public Access' and turn on 'Special Verges' via Ecology/Geology>Wildlife sites>non-statutory). They are not easy to find on a large map, zoom in closely to find the verges you are looking for, it may be helpful to use the maps below (click on them to make them bigger) to give yourself an idea of where they are first.
